The collaboration between Nicola Moss and Susan Buret began with a weather observation project in 2008/2009.
Laundry, being weather dependant, became an interest that was piqued by the comment ‘that’s my clothes line tan’ acknowledging housework as a less than glamorous, menial activity. The thankless task of doing the laundry often goes unnoticed ….a solitary activity performed behind closed doors with the cleaning of intimate apparel and the removal of stains.
The video work examines ideas of isolation, mindless repetition, labour of love, privacy, and the universal anonymity of household work.
