Kinetic sculpture is sculpture that moves and artists who make it are not content to have their artwork sit quietly in a corner just waiting for someone to come and look at it. Kinetic sculpture bangs and shakes, it startles and you might even find it wandering around the gallery.
Some artists love to pull apart the technology of today and remake it as if to spite the super smart efficiency of the new age of digital ingenuity all around us. For others, our own movement and interaction with the artwork becomes essential to the meaning.
Artists: Lincoln Austin, Michael Candy, Sandra Landolt, Ross Manning, John Turier and Arthur Wicks.
Download the exhibition catalogue to use online or on iPads - featuring moving images of the artworks, interviews with the artists and extensive education resources and curriculum links. Supported by The Ian Potter Foundation.
