Pipe Dreams: Erica Gray

Foyer Gallery August 25 - October 7, 2012

A pipedream is a tremendous hope that is impossible to achieve. Similarly, the nonsensical squishy pipe creations that Erica produces could never perform the primary role of a pipe; instead these forms invite us to contemplate the unseen intertwining grid that circulates our lives – giving to us and taking away. Pipe Dreams is a celebration of the mundane; the functional; the absurd and the genius of modern and mechanical, convenient life.

This is the first solo exhibition of works by Gold Coast based emerging artist Erica Gray, whose interest in mechanical grids of pipes is explored in this quirky and whimsical exhibition of soft sculpture and paintings.

This project has been assisted by the Regional Art Development Fund. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Gold Coast City Council partnership to support local arts and culture.
