An artistic young musician goes to Paris to learn how to live. Along the way she encounters ghosts of the artistic Parisian past. An Australian in Paris is a concert-theatre piece, with delicious French music ranging from la Belle Epoque to the present day.

A virtuosic musical and poetic tour de force, which has evoked standing ovations in Paris and Australia, An Australian in Paris is an intimate concert where flute queen Jane Rutter reminisces about the most beautiful and romantic city in the world. Using French poetry and her own anecdotes, she tells the tales of artists, writers and musicians who used Paris to form their ‘artistic personalities’.

Jane Rutter is acknowledged as one of Australia’s most brilliant and versatile flautists. Recognised as the most adventurous classical artist, Jane is one of the few classical flautists in the world with the ability to cross over successfully into jazz and pop.
