MEDIA RELEASE

Gold Coast Indie Film and TV Network presents Hazel Phillips.

The Gold Coast Indie Film & TV Network will open this year on Wed 21 March with a very special guest that has contributed to the TV and Film industry and is classed as our very own Betty White - the amazing Hazel Phillips. This is going to be a great opening where we can get up close and personal with Miss Phillips talking about how she started her career and what she is doing now as she is not slowing down.

Hazel Phillips has appeared on television since its inception. Her many credits include the original Beauty and the Beast and The Bramston Show. Her own talk show, Girl Talk, was the first midday show on television and ran daily for four years making her the most popular female in the country, during which time she won gold and bronze Logies.

Since then, she has appeared in every branch of the media – TV, films, theatre, cabaret, radio and journalism.

Hazel has written, starred and appeared in three musicals of her own, as well as thirty other musicals and several movies. In the year 2000 she wrote a one-woman show that ran for two hours, tracing the life and times of Marilyn Monroe, entitled Marilyn and Me, which she performed in numerous venues.

She has appeared in several plays for Queensland Theatre Company, including leads in The Circle, Pride and Prejudice, Shakespeare’s Henry V and The Merry Wives of Windsor directed by Geoffrey Rush.

Hazel was awarded the OAM in the 2005 Queen’s Birthday Honours for her contribution to television and the entertainment industry and in 2008 Hazel Phillips wrote a autobiography Black River Bright Star and she still continues to entertain. It will be a pleasure to have her on board and have a Q&A about her life.

To open up the night we have a very young talent Liz Conde, a semi finalist in Channel 7's The X factor, who last year become the ambassador for Bravehearts and is a very inspiring singer who has made some great inroads already for her age. She will no dobut has a great future and GCIFTN is delighted to have her open the night and show her recently made film clip with her own song 'Indestructible' that was specially written for Bravehearts.

The Gold Coast Indie Network is brought to you by Caroline Russo Promotions and Media PR and is sponsored by GC Business and GC Filming. This is a great way to meet other industry folks and support a network that continues to grow. There are Lucky Door prizes to win and will be a great night out. Bookings are advised.
