The Border Art Prize 2013

Gallery 1 September 21 - October 27, 2013

This annual prize celebrates the diversity and abundance of artists in southeast Queensland and northeast NSW. The prize is shared between Tweed River Art Gallery and Gold Coast City Art Gallery and is held at these venues in alternate years. The total prize pool for 2013 is $5,000.

Artwork can be in any media and the Prize is open to artists from Tweed Shire, Gold Coast City and adjoining Council areas of Byron and Kyogle Shires, Lismore, Logan and Redland City and Scenic Rim Regional Council.

The judge for The Border Art Prize 2013 is Joe Furlonger.

WINNER – John Cottrell, Maelstrom Mandala awarded $3000
SECOND - Stephen Frost, Requiem for childhood awarded $1500
THIRD – Filthy the Bear, Yogi - Titan of Eternia awarded $500

Highly Commended - Judy Oakenfull, The Pencil Sphere; Shane Drinkwater, Hills; Jane McLennan, Identity.

Pamela Rainger Study Stipend for artists aged between 18 and 25 years - Sara Firth, Golden Hour awarded a Musgrave Art voucher valued at $1,100. This prize is sponsored by the Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society, Gold Coast.

Voting is now open for the People’s Choice Award. This will be announced at an AFTER DARK event on Thursday 24 October 2013 and the winning artist will receive $1000.
