Get ready Gold Coast, things are about to get a little bit more awkward as The Arts Centre Gold Coast welcomes back local production company ...Awkward Productions in 2012!

This year sees the return of ...Awkward Productions with many exciting projects on the horizon including Un-natural Selection, which is currently in development through an Arts Centre Creative Development program.

Company Director Stewart McMillan is ecstatic about the new partnership with the Centre saying, "Another great opportunity from The Arts Centre to help develop a local production, I can’t wait to see what it looks like.” The Arts Centre’s Creative Development program will provide support to workshop and develop the work further in an intensive 2 week full-time process, lead by a well-renowned dramaturge/director.

This hilarious creative team who brought you the comedy smash hit, Beautifully Dead in 2010 is proud to unveil their new original black comedy Un-natural Selection, a play which will make you think twice about cows, coffins, cadavers and other words starting with C…

The story is centred around newlyweds Simon and Diane Nomis. The young couple inherit Diane’s late Grandfather’s family business and it quickly becomes apparent that neither have much business sense. With the business failing, Diane takes matters into her own hands, as the plot thickens when the local police get involved. Simon suspects an affair, bodies start to pile up and two old men fight over a pigeon as Un-natural Selection delivers some dark comedy for everyone.

...Awkward Productions is developing further as a production company with more productions in the pipeline and making their move into film to really make their mark in the industry.
