Artist in Residence
Artists are great at creating new works, exploring creative processes and presenting innovative performances. However what is often lacking is the business mentoring and arts industry support that can help a regional arts organisation develop into a major artistic company.
2012 Artist in Residency
Following the success of inaugural Artist in Residence, Zealous Chorography in 2010 and 2011 program recipient Purple Pear Productions (Director Monette Lee staged The Blonde, the Brunette and the Vengeful Redhead) The Arts Centre is thrilled to announce the 2012 Artist in Residence program recipient is Soapbox Theatre Productions.
Soapbox Theatre Productions is a vibrant and innovative ensemble formed by a dedicated group of Gold Coast based artists who strive to strengthen and broaden the arts and arts practice in South East Queensland. Soapbox works with love for their art and their audiences, creating atmospheric and unforgettable productions.
The Soapbox mission is to create new and unique opportunities for artists whilst working in a nurturing and professional environment. Soapbox encompasses an ensemble of actors, technicians, designers, visual artists, dramaturges and musicians to create a dynamic and spirited company.
As part of their residency Soapbox Theatre Productions will present a number of works. Full details are listed in media release linked below.
