Touring Exhibitions - Ian Smith On and Off the Road

                 

Ian Smith is a senior Australian artist born in Cairns and now living in Brisbane. This exhibition features large scale paintings and drawings made since 2001 that deal with his fascination with the imagery and experiences of being on the road, in particular the many trips that he has undertaken within Queensland driving between Cairns and Brisbane and beyond. Ian Smith On and Off the Road features 39 of Smith’s paintings including memorable images. Accompanying the exhibition is a short film on the artist by director Alex Chomicz and a 48 page catalogue with essay by Curator Virginia Rigney. This project has received financial assistance from the Queensland Government through Art Queensland with additional support from Heiser Gallery, Brisbane.
